There is nothing like SLIME!

For those of you that don't have boys you might not understand but.....There is NOTHING like SLIME!!!

They have been asking me for weeks to make them some slime and I have been putting it off. Finally I broke down, but my trusty friend was not home when I called her for the directions so I searched the net and have found the BEST recipe at http://www.sciencebob.com/experiments/polymer.html. I can stand to make this recipe anytime because it is all contained in one cup.

I also made some for the little girls next door who LOVED it. They didn't want to leave it here for the next time they come over, they decided to take it home with them.

I took these pictures when they were playing yesterday.

Claiming Victory!

It never ceases to amaze me just how wonderful God is. He not only knows exactly what is going on in one's life, he always seems to have a way of turning it in the right direction, especially if you have made the decision to give Him the glory.

For some time I have been on tenterhooks over homeschooling my children. I have been trusting God that He will prepare me for this new direction in my life, but still have had feelings of inadequacy as we women sometimes do. Quite often though He has placed someone or something in my path to prove to me that He is working in this area of my life. Yesterday was one of those times....

First, I have to go a few weeks back. God had been convicting me about teaching Sunday School so I decided to open myself up and take a position teaching our 1st/2nd grade Sunday School class. Up to that point I always had excuses as to why I couldn't. (I didn't want to get up that early, didn't want to be tied down to having to go to church every Sunday, wasn't capable, didn't know enough about the Bible, you name it I could find the excuse.) Since I made the decision though God has been showing me just how capable I am of being the teacher that my boys need me to be.

I signed up for VBS last month and told them to place me anywhere. I thought that they would place me in a helper position just as they had in years past but at the end of the service yesterday our VBS director told me he needed to speak with me. Again, I was not expecting to teach a class but lo and behold he handed me the teacher's packet with all the goodies for the kindergartners and told me who MY helpers would be. Right then I had this amazing feeling come over me. Not only has God given me the confidence that I need to teach my children but He has also opened doors to help others. I will start teaching an Awana's class in the fall, an all boys class ranging from 10-12. What an extraordinary challenge!! I am in prayer that I will be able to stand up to the job. I know that God has His hand in everything that I do and as long as I give Him the glory I can accomplish anything that I desire in my life.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear,
then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:4

Glory be to God!!!

Why Blog?

I started to blog quite a while back and didn't get far with it, I actually deleted the blog because of fear. I wanted to call it laziness but yes, I was afraid of putting my thoughts out for all to see. Over the past few months I have been doing a lot of research on the net for my upcoming new position, Teacher, I will be homeschooling in the fall. (well, I already homeschool, if you are a mother you know!!) Anyway, as I said, I will begin homeschooling my little ones come August and have been researching, blah, blah, blah and I have come across several GREAT blogs that include lots of WONDERFUL information for me and decided that "I" can do this. I don't know if I will ever get to see my blog come up in a search but even if it doesn't it will be a great place for me to put my thoughts........

I'd like to share a few links with you that I have found over the past months/years. I hope that you may get as much from them as I have:

Heather has wonderful information in her bi-weekly newsletter called the Homeschool Notebook, I love to see what new site she will send in the newest email. You can see past newsletters and sign up here.

If you love to crochet or knit you can find tons of patterns at Crochet Pattern Central.

Here's a little something that I made for my mom. It took me forever to finish (9 years). I started it 9 years ago, worked on it for a little bit (1/2 months) and didn't pick it up again until last Christmas. When I did decide to finish it for her I completed it in 1 week. Needless to say she was very surprised, I guess she decided long ago that she would never get it.

Is cake decorating something you'd like to try. I took three Wilton classes at our local Michael's and have come to love cakes. You can make just about anything with them. Below are a few of the cakes I've decorated and I've gotten several of my ideas from Cake Central.

This is one of my favorites. YES, this is a cake, well, cupcakes anyway.

Another of my favorites is SANTA. Who doesn't love Santa, right!!! I made this for my son's Christmas party at school. He is also made from cupcakes. I love decorating cupcakes quite a bit, they are easy to make and VERY clean.

Well, I guess I need to attend to my home and family. I have sat this morning long enough, it's time to find something to get into. Today is going to be a great day!!!!!!

Oh, by the way, if you are interested in God, children, family, homeschooling, crocheting, cake decorating, scroll-sawing, outdoors, reading, and lots more then come back and visit because I hope to be sharing a lot in my new adventure.

Toodles!!!!
